I like it too. Especially for long pages. It is a lot easier than scrolling down to the bottom to the edit button. Is the blue around the wikidot favicon new too? The navigation tool bar is looking very colourful all of a sudden.

Great! The URL wikidot.com does hint that you can edit. But this will increase awareness even further, especially on custom domains that do not use the word "wiki".

Wikidot joins dozens of other wiki, blogging and content-creation platforms in the effort of making content-editing a more straightforward experience. Starting today, Wikidot sites now support Universal Edit Button. UEB is a green pencil icon in the address bar that indicates that a web page is editable. It is similar to the orange "broadcast" RSS icon that indicates there is an RSS feed available.

Here is an example screenshot of how the UEB icon is displayed on a Wikidot page:

Moreover, once you click the button, the page will switch to the "edit mode" instantly. Great, isn't it?

To see the icon, you will need to install the UEB Firefox extension, which will work out-of-the-box with Wikidot, Wikipedia, Wikihow and literally hundreds (or thousands?) of other websites. At the moment only Firefox is supported, but as far as I can see this is the most popular browser among Wikidotters.

HINT: if you want to start editing really quickly, you can do it by hitting CTRL+E, and save the page with CTRL+S. This works on any browser.
