The Clone function is now restricted to sites of at most 100 pages.
ListPages was misformatting dates in _templates. See analysis.
In the _template, the %%parent_category%% variable was displaying %%category%% instead - fixed.
%%parent…%% variables were not updating until pages were explicitly recompiled - fixed.
In ListPages, when parent="=" was used on a page with no parent, it would select other orphans. Now, selects nothing.

/code/1 extraction URI did not work on hidden pages - fixed. ([http://community.wikidot.com/forum/t-194353#post-626155 Original report).
If URI ends in /noredirect/true, custom domain redirection is switched off, letting admins access Wikidot sites with lost DNS names.
Removed the popup "You have no valid security token which is required to prevent identity theft", which was useless and annoying (e.g. if you tried to use Google translate on any page with an input form).

RecentPosts and MiniRecentPosts modules now jump correctly to page rather than forum thread, for per-page comments.
Fixes to data forms:
- Default field type is 'text' unless you specify values, then it's 'select'.
- Maximum width and height is now 100.
- Edit-append now raises an error instead of creating a second data set.
- Using form in non-template pages now causes a proper error message.

When you invite users to your site, the screen clears to show that it's been done.

There are a couple of changes that we did over time:

Option to see who is watching a site / category / page: click "+options" and "who watches" at page options.
Watchers module — embed a list of people watching a site / category / page within your pages.
Temporarily disabled the new Flash uploader for Linux users — sorry about this one. It is due to a bug in Flash itself. We are working on a workaround.
We are experimenting with "Wikidot Packages", like a blog package. Automated packege installation is planned.
Minor bugfixes and language corrections, as usual.

Background page recompilation — when you save a page that is either included in other pages or other pages depend on - now they are all recompiled in a background process on the server, and do not keep you waiting for the result.
This also applies to _template page edits that affect all pages in the category.
This eliminates errors when saving a page that a lot of pages depend on. Also, "save" works much faster now.

Fixed important DNS issues today — it looks like some problems of not being able to access Wikidot.com could have been caused by this.

When changing DNS settings a few weeks ago we accidentally introduced a looped dependency that in (rare) circumstances could result in "Domain name not found" error for some of our users.

Things should not only be more reliable now, but DNS configuration has been simplified and thus more responsive.

One place to overview your stuff - new dashboard, new homepage

For the last 2 weeks we have been excited to work on a prototype of a new, quite radical improvement to Wikidot: new homepage. This perfectly fits into the trend of making Wikidot more accessible, easier and more intuitive, that in the end also increase usability and overal user experience.

Currently a logged-in user is presented either with our default homepage which contains some general information about Wikidot + featured content, or the current my account page, which has limited customization options and, honestly, could be improved in a number of ways.

The new homepage will eventually replace the current "my account" and will bring much better overview on your sites, your activity, suggested content. It will be much easier to watch content, get new blog posts (through the RSS reader widget) and generally have much better overview on things going on at Wikidot. To make the long story short, we want the new home page THE place you start your day. Gradually we would also like to add more importance to connecting people (aka friends or connections), easier messaging, inviting, and discovering new content on Wikidot.

The screenshot above shows an example dashboard panel with widgets showing inbox messages (including invitations), Wikidot news and changelog, a mini-wiki widget, summary of AdSense earnings and a couple of external widgets from iGoogle, Widgetbox and UStream (I know the kitty is the sweetest one ;-) ). A user is able to add/remove/rearrange content freely, in a similar way you can do it on iGoogle or Netvibes. To make the new homepage and dashboard fully functional and ready we still need some work, but I guess in the end we will enjoy this new feature.

The original idea of Wikidot (from ~2 years ago) was to create a network of socially connected wikis (and people). So far we have been successfully building one of the most technically advanced wiki platform, but honestly we still lack social features that would allow higher adoption of Wikidot and more rapid growth. I guess, since Wikidot already has a very firm position in the "world of wikis", it is time to calmly look at changes that will leverage Wikidot to even higher position. The changes we will be concentrating on will mostly follow those guidelines.

No problems have been reported so far, a few interface elements (like autocomplete fileds) got hickup for ~10 minutes. Despite a lot of work, you should not observe any visible changes ;-)
