This is great! I assume it doesn't cause as much server strain as using ListPages to count pages would have done? =)

Will be adding it to my site immediately and start using it.

However, it would've been great if there was a way to specify whether or not to count hidden pages (e.g. with an underscore _ at the start of the name) !!

Seem to have found a problem with this not working as expected:

[[module CountPages category="skin"]]
//%%count%% skins in 7 categories//
[[/module]]

The total number of pages in this category is 19. So I'd expect this to be the output:

19 skins in 7 categories

But instead, this shows up:

//19 skins in 7 categories//

It's not accepting wikidot syntax properly =/

Yeah, I would like to be able to use wikidot syntax formatting inside the CountPages module as well.

Until this restriction is lifted, workarounds might be:

Default for module body

Please change the default for the PageCount module body to “%%count%%”.

It currently is “+ %%linked_title%% by %%author%% %%date|%O ago (%e %b %Y, %H:%M %Z)%% %%short%%”.

pagetype attribute

I'm pleased that this module supports the pagetype attribute. But it's not documented above. I imagine there are other non-documented attributes too. Time for a doc update?

@scottplan: It seems Squark updated the doc a few days after you posted (1st March), so now it is there. Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't realise it supported these :)

Using in a Table

Is there anyway that this module can be used in a table? I know you can use it in an advanced table layout, but it leaves extra space between the rows that I would like to eliminate if possible.

I don't think you can make it work in a simple wiki table, but it is easy to tighten up the spacing in advanced tables with a bit of CSS. For starters, insert this code into the page with your advanced table and CountPages module.

margin: 0;
padding: 0 5px;
}
[[/module]]

The margin sets the space between the paragraph and the edge of the table cell. The padding creates a bit of space within the paragraph boundaries (in this case top and bottom are zero and left and right are 5 pixels each). Play around with both settings and let us know if you have any more questions. Once you have it set the way you want, you will probably want to move the CSS into your custom theme so you don't have to insert the CSS module into every page you want to use it on.
